History of Alpha Alpha Upsilon Zeta
The Alpha Alpha Upsilon Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on May 2, 2015, at the 2015 New York State Leadership Conference in Rochester, New York. It all started with the vision of the New York State Director, Soror Shanell Robinson. Soror Robinson wanted to ensure that the great works of Zeta Phi Beta were spread adequately throughout the State of New York. AAYZ was established to serve the densely populated downtown New York City area, an area that had not been conscioulsly served...until now!
One of the goals of AAYZ is to form partnerships with local corporate entities, not-for-profits organizations, and other members of the National Pan Hellenic Council to serve this area.
AAYZ was chartered by 11 dynamic women eager to serve the lower Manhattan community. These women are:
Soror Natasha Bobo-Pringle
Soror Natasha Carter
Soror Felecia S. Chatman
Soror Andrene M. Denniston
Soror Ingrid Hilliard, Esq.
Soror Sheridan Jack-Browne, Esq.
Soror Sharnee Lance
Soror Pascale Leone-Jones
Soror Taahira A. Maynard
Soror Clara Ospina
Soror Whitney Wilcher
Ninety-five years after Zeta Phi Beta was founded by our beloved Five Pearls, the sorority continues to build on its principles of Scholarship, Service, Finer Womanhood, and Sisterly Love through the works of its undergraduate and graduate chapters. We hope that you will join us on this journey!
